Left in the lurch

What purpose does the Left serve???? A check on discrimantory capitalism .. well seriously hata saawan ki ghata!

All news items heralding progress have to invariably devote a paragraph to the Left's antipodal views. I have lived for a couple of months in Kerala .. the only bastion of communism surving outside its cradle West Bengal. My observations during that short jaunt only strengthened by supreme aversion towards this political ideology. India is a socialist country not communist. Communism is a jehadi form of socialism. Why do we want these perenially retrogressive partys like CPI, CPI(M)? The most shocking news I heard some years back was the Indian electorate giving the left ~50 seats in the Lok Sabha !!!!

Anyways...

Ever wondered what's the origin of calling these partys 'The Left'? Drop in your serious/creative answers in the comments.

May be "Left is Right" or " They have been left away by rest of India"

May be because of unconventional means (aggression) they adopt to prove their point...

I can think of a few:
1. "Left" because they ought to be left on an uninhabited planet.
2. "Left" because of the Latin word for left, "sinister", which they are.
3. "Left" because if you are not right (correct), you are what is left.
4. "Left" because they feel left out in the political party and hence have their own means of plunder.
Finally, a quote from an article I read on the web: "India has Left factions which are pro-Russia, pro-China, pro-Korea, but none that is pro-India"
