Because it's there !
I recall those sunday afternoons. Bournvita Quiz Contest hosted by the generally viled Derek O'Brien. I religiously followed the 12 30 PM schedule for years. One particular round which i truly loved was the 'What's the question?' round. Here the roles were reversed. The answer was given, the teams had to frame a question. Unfortunately i could never use this format in my own quizzes.
the answer is Because it's there!
so whats the question??
Heres an associated parable for the uninitiated ...
We all believe the first climbers to scale Mt. Everest (in 1953) were Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, but that may not be true. In 1924, two other bold adventurers, George Mallory and Andrew Irvine, attempted to reach the top of Mt. Everest. They were last sighted near the summit by the expedition's geologist, who was 2000 feet below them.
In 1999, Mallory's body -- still intact after 75 years -- was discovered by a group of climbers.
Were Mallory and Irvine on their way up or coming down?

Nobody knows the reality of George Mellory and Andrew Irvine unless some more evidences are found. Only after that we can guess whether they were really climbing the mountain or getting down.
