India Unbound
Currently reading .. India Unbound by Gurcharan Das. I have been swathed by this nationalist fervor since some days now. Till date I have held a humiliating record of reading books. I just cant read, thats my problem. So I want to change that now, and the best start would be to read what you want to read! Lets hope I manage to finish this one :-)The primary urge behind such a choice of reading comes from a deep realization. Watching the endless polemics of Indian Elections 2009, I got a sense of helplessness. Here are luminaries debating, mudslinging on issues (or lack of) but I cannot judge them! It is MY failure to comprehend rather than their ability to elucidate. Then it was clear to me. I was attempting to catch my nose from the wrong side. The solution is not understanding our politicians or political manifestos, but understanding India in the first place.
So if I ever to manage to read this .. the next one is the ultimate tome by Ramchandra Guha called India after Gandhi

No way !! I read "India Unbound" a couple of months ago, and bought a copy of "India after Gandhi" just last week. But the latter is a giant (information as well as page-wise)!
BTW, I should've replied to the e-mail but its never too late. Congratulations on your wedding, and wish both of you a very happy married life.
