Finally..
At last, the great denial appears to be showing signs of cracking, Pakistan confirms that the lone captured terrorist of 26/11 is a Pakistani national. (Link to Dawn, Pakistan's widely circulated daily). Also read this post regarding the dossier of evidence prepared by Indian authorities which has transcripts of verbal talk between the gunmen and their handlers.
So there is progress, finally. I was afraid President Zardari would seek Kasab's class X & XII passing certificates, Income Tax returns, original of driving license (duly attested by gazetted government official) as proof for establishing his nationality. Also, (he could have said) "Only if all four years marksheets for graduation and provident fund details were available could Pakistan consider him culpable under its jurisdiction". It appears this might not be required.
Over one month has transpired since 26/11, and I am exasperated with Pakistan. I completely fail to understand the collective conscience (or lack of) among the common people. I have just one word to describe the seriatim of responses from our estranged cousins - immature. The hyperbole of naivete was blaming India for Lahore blasts. I had laughed at this, really.
I have just one complaint from Pakistan. Its adamant refusal to accept reality. Before I point a finger to my neighbour, I know that four fingers point back to me. I am appalled, shocked and ashamed with B Ramalinga Raju, dishonorable chairman and founder of Satyam. I absolutely denounce any stratification of society based on caste, sub caste, sub-sub-caste which currently finds currency in India's ethos. I fail to understand what the Maoists and Naxals are trying to achieve. I hate dynastic politics and have strong aversion to coalition politics. I am aghast at the objectives of home grown terror groups like SIMI, Indian Mujahideen and Hindu extremists. All these and thousand more, are the chronic epidemics crippling India and its citizens future. I so much hope such frank acceptance like mine also echoes in the lands across Wagah. Unfortunately, in my reading of Pakistan media I found overwhelmingly few articles of soul searching. Too few to build up decible levels for drowning the constant jingoist anti India din. I would love to be wrong, but that needs to be proved. And proof does not mean Zardari's definition.

I have noted something in all of Pakistans statements. They always warn of retaliatory strikes if attacked. If their non-state actors are indeed acting on their own, then why do they protect them from attacks by India?
Besides this, I do not think we are using our full potential to turn global opinion in our favour.
Criminal confessing about his crime is very rare..and it is impossible with respect to Pakistan. Satyam CEO confessing about his crime is ,though, a different story, but not forgivable still.
@Equinox
As far as I know, Pakistan is in complete mess - economically, financially, culturally, socially and politically. I can personally vouch for the first in that list. I know the banking system and mutual fund industry in Pakistan well enough to afford a opinion.
Can you elaborate your thoughts on 'currying global opinion in India's favor'
@yogsma
satyam deserves a separate blog post! M waiting for some perspicuity on the issue, then will post.
Compare the reactions of the western media to the Mumbai attacks vis-a-vis the Israel offensive. The difference is striking.
whoever said confessions came easy??!!!!!
@ equinox
that brings the question of drawing parallels with Israel to the fore. i hope to to this post sometime.
@ moi
yeah.. so true, like that time when you woke up, looked in the mirror and the mirror cracked. There is still no confession from you on this. Very sad :-(
I will post on that soon. Meanwhile read this article written during the last time we had a standoff with out neighbours.

very well written.
I wonder if India will ever be in a possition to get things doone with Pakistan.
They are like pushed to the wall cat who alway sings one song only.."grrrr..." "We will retaliate.."
But we never vsaid we will attack you?
This shows the lack of confidence and mischeveious attitude of Pakistani medi,polity and its citizen.
@ equinox
Ohh shit.. that was scary, absurd, insane.. dunno what to say. I know we can reason the authenticity of the article, but when it comes to Pakistan, I have been conditioned to believe that there is no smoke without a fire!
Yeah am looking forward to your post on Israel-India
@ Fighter Jet
Absolutely! They are fast hurtling towards actually being a failed state. And the more they fall, more sleepless nights for India!!
